Accomplishments

Throughout my tenure on the commission, I have advocated for the following:

  • Continued partnership with HandsOn South Florida and FarmShare to enhance the Food Initiative, guaranteeing that families have sufficient access to food supplies.

  • Advocacy for School Board Agenda Item JJ-18, securing the commitment for the reconstruction of James S. Rickards Middle School.

  • Engagement in various neighborhood cleanups to uphold the cleanliness and appearance of our streets and green areas

  • Support the joint climate action plan between the City of Oakland Park and Wilton Manors. This plan aims to enhance infrastructure and resilience into the next decade.

    • Two goals of the Climate Plan:

      • Mitigate the effects of climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 1% each year through the year 2028.

      • Increase resilience of our communities while minimizing impacts to efficiency and cost-effective business operations.

  • Support and participate with the Roll with Reusables initiative, which reduces the use of single-use items like bags, beverage and takeout containers, straws, and utensils. Plastics do not biodegrade, but rather slowly break down into smaller pieces of plastic (microplastics).

Continue to be a part of the planning as we prepare for our centennial in 2029
